Spam Glitches and Art

This makes me so incredibly happy.  I get a spam on this blog nearly every day.  So I get the notification, then reject, then report...  Today, I log into Blogger to get the new spam filter for comments message.  Absolutely brilliant.  Now, no notification, just log in, see spam content, select all, delete.

Yesterday, I had started making some Art Shirts for men, featuring a few of my artworks.  I had all my designs plotted out and was about to save the first DDS file, when everything froze up and I hadn't saved my PSD yet.  Boo.  So, instead, I just played my game.  Suppose I'll work on them another time.  I'm currently working on a house for Hayley, a friend who has 2 Sims with triplets (one is an evil baby).  The house is taylored with personal CC, so won't be sharing any of that here.  Though I may be sharing the house itself here.  I'm making it bare bones, no other CC than my own, and no expansion materials, as she doesn't have any.  I'm only putting in a few items that can be downloaded free at the Sims 3 Store, so she won't have to hunt and find every single thing.

I initially meant it to be a small house, but when you have triplets and give them each their own room, and the dining room needs three high chairs...  I'm trying for an expanded house look, like a traditional old house with modern additions and such.  The first house I made for her got wrecked.  I colored the ceiling tiles.  Waaaaah!  I got some horrible glitch which had a ceiling tile which shot to the moon from the second floor balcony.  I had almost finished texturing every item in the house (I'm very thorough, I hate flat surfaces with no texture).  And then I discovered this glitch which could be seen from the map view.  So, went to my back up game...  No good, it was there too and no recolor styling on every object in the house.  I tried demolishing everything on the lot bit by bit to see if I could remove it.  No luck.  So restarting her house from scratch.  Likely, by the time it's finished, her triplet will be moved out and married with triplets of their own.

I've taken a break from that and actually am playing my character, Kiri Shinigami.  Got her promoted twice and expanded her house.  She single, so all she really does is work work work.  But she does have other hobbies.  She used to jog to work every day, but that would take her nearly three hours, maybe I should get her a bike.

Back in the real world, I've been creating artworks, some available on my Etsy or as prints on DeviantART.  Which will mean more art coming for your sims.  However, the scanner is on the main computer, where my bf is always playing Need For Speed.  Soooo, I haven't scanned up anything lately.  Any art requests?  Look through my galleries on DeviantART, see if there's any art you want on your Sims' walls and give me a holler, either there or here.  Also, I'm still doing custom Sims 3 portraits.  Send me a ref pic of your Sim, tell me what style you like, I'll draw it then make a Sim painting out of it and upload it here.  I charge nothing for those, I do it for fun.  However, I am also available for commissions for original artworks (the kind you hang on walls!).

I'm excited to announce I'm sewing stuffs too.  I made these super cute golth lolita cuffs to match a skirt I'm making.  These will soon be available for sale.  I feel so crafty!

Create-a-Pattern Madness!

Okay, I just downloaded and tried out the Create-a-Pattern tool.  Undecided yet as to whether or not I prefer this method.  For simply tiling a pattern you have already created, it proves more difficult.  Unless you make each part of your pattern in the tool by using PNG "stickers" and then layering and such as you like.  Keep your images 256x256 or else it resizes them for you!  Okay, the first pattern I created was from one of my Frederick's series ATCs, to have sort of an art deco modern art tiled look for wallpapering or fashionista outfits.  Modern Arty Walls Which came out a nice tiling.  There's a small amount of reflective shininess in the pattern, however, with the dress I chose, the material did not show up any shiny.  Which was disappointing because that is the same dress I chose for all my models and none of them showed up the shiny....  Boo.  And my bf wants the main computer back, so I'll have to dig up some better screenshots tomorrow.  Until then, please enjoy how lovely the couches looks, as they actually do show up the shine!  XD  All these patterns are available in my Studio on the Exchange.  But I will host them on Mediafire (entire folder, CAP Pattern Pack1) for those of you not registered.  There is a total of seven patterns.  Two artsy ones and five red patterns with shininess.  I wanted a Jessica Rabbit sort of effect then started playing around with the shiny layer.

The next pattern I made from a little doodle, which I used as a sticker to tile it in the pattern and used some of the default stickers as well.  I may in the future provide pattern stickers, which will be 256x256 PNG files as a resource pack.  I plan to make some for myself anyways.  This pattern which I call Ornamental Tentacle because it has sort of a Chinaware pattern style.  The tentacle is hand drawn, just a PNG file I already had picked out so was ready at my disposal to make a pattern and I thought it turned out pretty nice.  I have it pictured on a dress, but it should look nice on tiled surfaces and small surfaces and counter tops.  There may be an issue with the color of the tentacle layer, I had lowered the saturation during the creation because it was giving me odd colors instead of solid colors.  I'll have to figure out better ways to make stickers as I learn this tool more.  So it seems to only go darker and the blue barely showed up from how I set it to look in the preview image they have in the tool.  I was kind of disappointed that the in-game look didn't match the tool.

The five red patterns, I forget which ones are which names, my goof, I'm sorry.  The glitter one is obvious.  But the others have almost the same names and the preview image didn't show them on the Exchange, so I promptly forgot what I named each one.  I think it shows up in the launcher though.  I haven't tried other dresses/outfits to see if the shiny shows up better, because that's what I really wanted them for.  Though shiny couches, or even drapery are nice and all....  ;P  (Look at the couches, not the dresses)

(all three flourishes have shine with swirly patterness going on)

Ze Zebra Cats ATC's

My son loves cats, and zebras.  So the zebra cat was conceived.  I plan to do a whole series of cute little stripey cat pics or cats with zebra prints.  These are ATC's, not yet available for trade, I want to add more to the set before I offer them.  So do expect more to come!  In the mean time, I've made them into cute paintings for your Sims' walls.  We don't have Sims 3 Pets yet, but at least we can be prepared when they finally give them to us!  XD

So, I ended up using a different frame than I initially intended.  I wanted the Kid's poster one, but it had some weird normal mapping, which I fixed, but still showed up in my game after clearing my caches and everything and I'm certain there was no residual image of it left, but it still showed up.  So I gave up and opted to use the same frame I used for the other ATC's.

More ATCs by GillianIvy

I've been working on a lot of Artist Trading Cards lately.  Different styles and mediums.  I'm also converting them into Sims 3 paintings.  These are all my own original art done in traditional mediums.  Some of those pictured may still be available for trade.  I still have quite a few sets that are not yet posted on my DeviantART page.  If you're interested in doing an art trade with me, let me know.  I also make custom pieces.  These are all the standard 2½" x 3½" sized trading cards.  There were 2 more that I was going to post with this batch, but the specular is wrong with the frame I chose, so I have to fix that, and I'm on the laptop, so can't right now.

You can see more of my art on DeviantART.  I'm considering selling my original pieces as well as trading.  Please let me know your thoughts on this if you might be interested in buying miniature artworks instead of trading with me.  Comment here or you may send me an e-mail gillianivy@live.com

Water Ballet Photo by Riviera2008

These beautiful koi fish were captured mid-dance by Riviera2008 as a stock image on DeviantART, used with permission.  The photo is so beautifully perfect as it is, I wanted to just frame it and put it on my Sim's walls!  XD  I came across this when looking for resource images for my Koi Pond terrain paint, and this just made my jaw drop by it's sheer beauty.  Please do take a moment to check out the gallery of the artist and say thanks on the image "Water Ballet".

After looking at the texture bump on the particular painting I chose, I thought it looked too painted.  And wanted to display the rich tones this image has.  So have made a 3 panel mural, a recolor of the Sims District mesh.  So either two choices for your Sims, or both for the avid fish lovers (no Koi sushi, please!).  Without further ado here is the mural!

Chaotic Order

Download - Chaotic Order
This artwork was created for a friend in remembrance of Dirk, who was wrongfully taken from us right before their shared birthday.  Instead of the annual bash the pair would through every year, this year, it served as a wake.  My friend's birthday will forever be shadowed with  loss and grief.  So, for his birthday, I created this piece.  Inspired by a sculpture owned by our lost "Brother", which he in turn gifted upon me.  An Indian hand, index and thumb pinched together, palm outstretched with a small flower in the palm and an intricately carved bracelet banded around the wrist.  I began drawing this as I waited for my plane to return me home.  I printed this image for him from my DeviantART account, in 8x10 due to atual resolution, I was afraid to enlarge the image further, though it was able.  Thankfully, this is no problem with Sims 3 resolution, so instead, it is a 3 sq wide wall mural, decal style, so you are able to change the border through wall CaS.

I recolored the mesh by Ida of Sims District, which you can find in the Rejected Finds pages.  Those are truly beautiful.  I couldn't find a tutorial for making wall stickers, and utterly failed doing it myself with zero meshing, etc.  If anyone uses this as a template to make your own, please accredit the mesh to Ida, not me.

Koi Pond Terrain and CAW Paint

Just whipped up this terrain paint because I really wanted to make a Koi Pond on top of a basement.  Which might sound silly, but looks pretty good.  I'm getting back into building and am working on an Asian type art museum.  And it has an indoor Koi Pond garden area.  Of course, you can't make a real pond on top of a basement.  Not sure how this "water" texture will look under water, I designed it as a water substitute for appearances only.  To give it a three dimensional look, you can cover it with lily pads and rock borders, etc.  I used three resources for this from DeviantART Stock images.  This is better for bigger ponds, I may scale it down or make a new smaller version.

There are two files, the package is the in game terrain paint, the DDS file is for use with CAW.  Put it in your My Documents >> Electronic Arts >> The Sims 3 Create a World Tool >> UserToolData >> SourceTextures.  I didn't test in CAW, however, it should work the same.  It may take a bit of playing with to get your pond shape ideal, the image is lily pad heavy.  If I do another, I may go with more water, less lily.  I was afraid of how the water would look, but it came out looking pretty good.  I hope you can make some good use of this, I will be adding the CAW file to the Rejected Repository list for CAW resources.  I'll soon be moving all those files to the one folder in my Mediafire, rather than hosted on the Wiki, as there is limited attachments there.

Thanks to all the great stock image providers for these, they are beautiful.  Please take the time to thank them, or look at their galleries.  Or both!  ;D

Aned the Fae

This piece was designed after a friend's Facebook profile picture.  She loves to go to Renn Fair and every time she does, gets her facepainted.  The design was so lovely, I had to capture it in my own style.  You can see more of my artwork on my DeviantART, GillianIvy.DeviantART.com.  I plan to create Sims 3 paintings out of my art, if there is a particular piece you'd like done, please tell me.  Also, I do draw customs Sims portraits, take a screenshot of your Sim, then send to me and I'll make an artwork based off of the image and create a Sims painting for their wall.  Also, I can do artwork requests.  Dependent upon what you want done, this may be commission only.

Rejected News

Due to the reaction to ATC Fae Series paintings depicting mild nudity on MS3B, I have raised the filters of this blog to a mature rating.  And request anyone sharing images from this blog to not display nude ones, or give warning before directing your audience to my site where nudity may be seen.  This site does not have any way to mark specific images as mature, so instead the entire blog now will reflect that rating.  Apologies to anyone who was offended by artistic nudes, now you have been warned before stepping onto this site that there may be mature content.

Hair Studio

Sorry to be posting old stuff, but haven't added some things here before, so felt it should be posted.  The following is Hair colors I've uploaded to the Sims 3 Exchange.  I just added a new one "Grape Fizz" for a character I've just created last night.  I'm playing her right now and so far she's pretty fun.  I'll be posting her up soon.  I don't have any custom content (other than store content) on her or in my game for that matter.  I will be making her some custom gear, to get back into the swing of things.  We just got our second monitor back so the computer is about where we want it to be.  My game is running smoother than ever with all my settings maxed, so quite happy about that!  We still plan to buy a second video card... XD

Simply Amazed!

I want to say a big thank you to everyone who has so kindly gifted me a Sims 3 wish list item.  When I created the wish list, I never expected anything, only kept it as a way to track things I like and for the Sims 3 contests they periodically have.  Thank you for sharing your community spirit with me, it is appreciated.  Got to go play my game and get back into modding again, it's been too long since my last update!

First and Foremost

I realize that it has been a terribly long time since I have done any update here on The Rejected.  Which I feel somewhat guilty about.  I hadn't had my Sims 3 game installed for a long time due to video card problems.  And have been devoting my skills to my art.  First and foremost, I am an artist.  I have some new art which I may wish to turn into art for your Sims.  I've recently started making Artist Trading Cards.  Which I thought might be fun to add as art on your Sims' walls.  I do have plans to reinstall my game and add in the modding programs and throw some new art your way.  However, I do plan to take my fine ass time about it.  I hope you're all still following.  I will keep posting on Twitter @RejectedSims with my latest endeavors, both socially and Simmishly.  If you'd be interested in owning one of my miniature works of art, please, follow me on gillianivy.DeviantART.com.  Here's the direct link to the ATC gallery: Gillian's ATCs.

Long Hiatus

My apologies to my watchers for the long hiatus.  I've had some computer issues and have just recently reinstalled most of my modding programs.  Though there are a few things I'm missing.  I plan to get back on ball with it though, and start making stuffs again.  Thanks for coming by.  If there's other creator's who'd also like to contribute, you are more than welcome to join this shared blog.

Geisha Print Pattern

This pattern is a seamless texture using the same Geisha design.  There's four color channels, though the differences on some may be subtle.  Only the one size.  I'll add details later.  Eventually.

Geisha Print Turtle Neck

This image is from a stock kimono photograph.  I'll link credits later, too many IRL issues going on right now to think about other stuff.  I made a pattern to match, no screens yet, will upload soonish.  This has 3 designs.  One with only the stencil/no stripes.  Another with stencil and pale blue (transparency alters color) stripes and last has solid white stripes.

Gilded Butterflies Tattoo

"We will all laugh at gilded butterflies" quite a profound statement tattooed across the back of young starlet, Megan Fox.  And I fell in love with it.  I had to know the meaning behind it.  I was absolutely intrigued.  And not disappointed in the least.  It is a quote from King Lear, basically stating that those who live beautiful and wealthy lives, their souls (butterflies) will be weighted down and unable to fly.  Definitely intriguing to see such a statement on such a gorgeous and suddenly popular actress, who is very much the epitome of the gilded butterfly.  Perhaps it serves as a reminder to herself that despite her fame, beauty and wealth, she ought to remember herself and not let Earthly possessions and material things consume her.  So it would seem, there is more to her than meets the eye, bad pun intended....  Sorry.  I can't help myself.
